Lantern Expedition
Take up the lantern and delve a cavern that never ends. Lantern Expedition is a real-time dungeon-crawl RPG you can play free in your browser with no download and no install. You pilot a single hero, the Lanternbearer, steering with one finger while your blade auto-strikes on its own rhythm, sweeping every beast caught inside the cone you happen to be facing. You never tap to attack, so the whole game lives in your feet: kite the swarm, turn to face the right threat, and body-block the ranged spitters before they whittle you down. Slain monsters shower XP and Ember orbs that snake toward you. Fill the bar to level up and choose one of three boons, growing from fragile to a whirling wall of light. Drain a floor's monster budget to open the green stairs, then step through to descend somewhere deeper, denser and meaner. Crawlers give way to fast lurkers, ranged spitters and hulking brutes, and every fifth floor a Warden elite guards a relic. Bank a Lantern Flare to nova the whole screen when things get hairy. There is no victory screen. The dark only ends when your hero falls, and each run's Embers buy permanent Ember Hearth upgrades so your next delve starts stronger. How deep can you go?
